Windows Live, the platform that brings together various online services from Microsoft, such as Hotmail e-mail or instant messaging Messenger, has been renewed to include features from other companies, such as site Flickr photo sharing, the service miniblogs Twitter, the social networking site Friendster or yelp of criticism.

The new version of Windows Live appears in 59 markets and 36 languages, including Spanish, Catalan and Basque.

With its partnership with other social services for the Internet, Microsoft allows Internet users to follow the activities of their contacts in these pages without having to abandon Windows Live. “Our customers have friends all over the Internet. They communicate through many Web services that are not connected and they want access to everything from one place,” explains Martin Spinetto, manager of product marketing for the online service of Microsoft.

Friendster, a social network that lately has been hearing quite in the Asian market, has received $ 20 million in a round of financing led by IDG Ventures and which also included existing investors Kleiner Perkins, Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures and Founders Fund.

In addition, it has hired Richard Kimber, until now regional director of Google for South Asia, which will now be its executive director. While Friendster is the largest social network in countries like Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia and other countries are still trying out how to become a big business.
